I have been teaching for the past 18 years and became disenchanted with the public school system. I feel that my strong points include one-on-one teaching and this would make be a very good tutor for elementary age student's who need a little help with the standard curriculum. Another one of my strong points is evaluating a particular student's level and their needs and working on the deficiencies in those areas.
I love teaching math. I do not believe in a student learning "tricks" to come up with the answer, but rather believe in developing a strong grasp of the basic facts and particularly learning the why something is done rather than just the method of how to do it.
I also love reading and a student can not truly learn English unless they develop a love for reading of their own. It is through this that they will be able learn the mechanics of English and what is appropriate in conversation and for a more
I know the Common Core since I have taught while it was being introduced and developed. So therefore, I have gone through all the training offered from the State School system for Common Core in Elementary School.
Although I have certification from NC in grades K-6, my teaching career has been in grades 4 and 5 so I would be best suited to teach the upper elementary grades.
If you want help with what your teacher is trying to teach you, and have a desire to get past the problems, I am here to help. I will contact your teacher to find out where they believe you need the most help and we will start there and I will make it possible for you to find the answers to the questions you have that are giving you trouble in school I have been teaching for the past 18 years and became disenchanted with the public school system. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been an Elemenatary School teacher for the past 18 years. I have gone through all the required training since Common Core was introduced and implemented.
The Common Core is a guideline developed to help educators know what is essential for student's to learn throughout their time in school. It was developed to insure continuity between all the states and their educational requirements.
I am licensed by the State of NC to teach the K-6 curriculum through 2019. I have also been licensed to teach Elementary education in the state of South Carolina where I began my teaching career. I received my M.A. in Elementary Education from the College of Charleston in 1996 and have taught in either 4th or 5th grade since my graduation.
