Queen's University (Psychology)
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (Other)
Hello! My name is Michael and I'm a post-baccalaureate student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I received my B.Sc. undergraduate degree with honors and with distinction in Psychology at Queen's University in Canada, where I spent the majority of my formative years. Currently, I'm studying Biology and the pre-medical sciences with the intention of attending medical school in the near future. I'm passionate about helping people and have been fortunate to have had several experiences in Academic and Clinical Psychology, as well as a Support Worker for children living with Autism Spectrum, and as a Safety Escort at Queen's University. During my free time, you'll likely find me outdoors, with a cup of tea in one hand and a guitar in the other, taking in the fresh air. I also find great enjoyment in discovering new ideas by traveling, reading books, and writing about my experiences. I believe that knowledge arrives best according to one's particular learning style; being an experiential learner myself, I enjoy investing time in community service both locally within Greensboro and abroad in places such as Bolivia and British Columbia.
Helping individuals cultivate personal and academic success is one of my greatest passions in life. Over the years, I have developed teaching and mentoring skills by leading soccer training sessions at the Power Soccer School in Toronto, training undergraduate students to conduct research at Queen's University, and most recently, working as a university tutor at UNCG. I have experience tutoring courses in science and the humanities, including Advanced Statistics, Psychology, Physics, and Biochemistry. I envision the learning process as a two way street between the tutor and tutee. Ultimately, my goal is to make material easy to understand and meaningful for students according to their interests and learning style.
If you are struggling with a course, please don't hesitate to contact me. I would be happy to learn more about what inspires you as a unique student, and how to apply those interests into helping you succeed. Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
