Dear parents and students: I am looking forward to assisting you in the areas of public speaking, proofreading, and professional writing. I also realize that it's important to share some of my professional background with you, so here is the short version. I have taught GED classes while completing my graduate studies. I have worked as a college professor for the last 12 years teaching undergraduate and graduate courses (masters' level courses). I have a doctorate in education with a concentration in instructional systems and technology. In 2006, I won the public speaking championship of North Carolina and then went on to place third in the semi-finals of the World Championship of Public Speaking.
I enjoy helping people communicate. If you want to be able to communicate, either in writing or through speaking, like a top performer, and are willing to follow a step-wise process, I can help you get there. Dear parents and students: I am looking forward to assisting you in the areas of public speaking, proofreading, and professional writing. I also
Simon was a great asset in helping my son improve his academic performance. He possesses an understanding of the underlying issues of challenging students and an ability to implement a practical and successful strategy for overcoming them. Simon was conscientious in communicating my son's progress and was open to receiving input and suggestions in his work with my son. In addition, Simon's experience in instruction at the college level provides him with insights into the student-professor dynamic.
I would recommend Simon to anyone seeking academic support. You would be getting a caring and able instructor who offers a highly professional service.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have an earned doctorate in education. I have also tutored children in the K-6 grade level. In addition, I have also taught several teacher preparation course, preparing people to become K-6 teachers.
I'm a college professor. My training (master’s degree and doctorate) is in developmental education, which focuses on teaching students to develop the skills necessary to excel in college. Some of the key skills that I have helped students build are in the following areas: English, grammar, proofreading, reading, writing, and vocabulary. In addition to publishing articles in journals, I have helped students develop articles for school and organizational publications. I have helped middle school students, high school students, and college students excel in school. I’m looking forward to helping you to be your very best.
In 2006, I won the public speaking championship of North Carolina (Toastmasters International). Later that year, I placed 3rd in the semi-finals of the World Championship of Public Speaking. I am a professional speaker, consultant, and coach. As a professional speaker, I presented to audiences internationally (in Portugal). I have given over 10 presentations at various national conferences.
I have a master's and a doctorate in Developmental Education. This field of study focuses on helping students succeed in college. It's focus population is under-prepared college students, but the techniques of developmental education can be applied to high school and middle school students as well. Also, my cognate area for my master's degree is remedial reading (which is one of the primary study skills that under-prepared students typically need assistance with). In addition, while completing my graduate studies I spent three years as a GED instructor, helping students with study skills and the following content areas: math, reading, English, writing, social studies, and science.
