About Marsea

I am now entering my fourth year of teaching. I am fresh in the field and enjoy incorporating fun with discipline in all of my lessons. I fully believe that the only failure there is in life is the failure to try. I am always willing to struggle with my students, push them for their best as well as giving my best.

I have excelled at planning and implementing lessons with the Common Core Standards in mind while making sure to meet the needs of my students. I have monitored student work and reflected on each lesson to determine whether to move forward with the skill instruction or to review that which was difficult for the students. I have varied the instructional strategies to reach various types of learners and am always cognizant of “Best Practices” when implementing lessons. I set high expectations of my students and worked with each child to meet those expectations.

I earned my teaching degree here in Greensboro, at UNCG! As a college student, I am part of the Teaching Fellows Program, which provided me more experience and opportunities to work with kids as well as travel the state to expand my knowledge on the different types of learning. I am a fluent Hmong speaker and recently married to my husband, Josh. Education is my passion! I always wanted to be a teacher ever since I was young. In my internships and student teaching, I have had multiple experiences in the classroom and worked with different grade levels ranging from first grade to seventh grade. I worked with a diverse classroom, accommodating my plans for ELL, EC, and AG students. I incorporated multiple learning styles, methods, and tools that would help all students to learn better. In my classroom I integrated movement and technology because students are part of the technology generation so it is something that they will need to be familiar with along with reading, writing, and math. I am a diligent worker and a team player. I strive to be a positive individual and reflect that quality into my work. I believe that everyone has the ability to learn, even if some may take longer than others. I want to be the teacher that never loses hope or gives up on their students. Humility is such an important character trait that I value in myself. It allows me to never be ashamed to admit that I do not know something or when I need to improve a lesson. I will ask and accept help when the situation calls for it. Learning to be inquisitive is a quality that I instill in my students. The best way to learn is to ask questions and I want to encourage my students to never stop asking.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
