About Tammy

Bio

I am a very qualified tutor in all elementary subjects. I have taught grades 2, 3, and 6 as well as adult students. I love working with ESL students. I have strong writing skills that I share with my students. I always make sure the parents/guardians are kept well aware of student's progress and areas that may need to be addressed. I am a positive and fun educator that teaches respect and honor.

My first experience in dealing with the ESL population was back in 1979. I worked with a family of Laotians. When their English became close to mastery we all went to McDonalds where they ordered their meals without any help. I have loved working with ESL students ever since. I have taught Adult ELS classes at our local community college. I often find that I learn as much from my students as they could ever learn from me!

I attended ASU where I majored in Elementary Ed., graduating Magna Cumm Laude with a Praxis score in the top 5% on my Praxis. I have taught 2,3 and 6 grades. I am very familiar with EOGs and diebels assessment.
Phonics,

Phonics

I have always been intrigued to words and their power when used appropriatedly. When I taught 2nd grade a had the honor of teaching Saxon Phonics. I would have put any of my 2nd graders up against Seniors in High School regarding their knowledge of phonics, history of the English language and learning from where one was at in their learning. My first teaching position was in reading remediation where I also taught phonics.
