B.S. Mercy College (English)
Marymount University of Virginia (Master's)
I have been teaching for sixteen years. It is very important to me that my students feel successful and confident about learning. I enjoy teaching, and I use hands on approach when teaching. I have taught all grades from K-12. I specialize in Elementary School level. My expertise is working with special needs students and teaching the Common Core. I have an immense amount of experience dealing with the end of grade exams, specifically for grades 3-5 : not only have I helped students in their preparations, but I also have worked for a company that designed the exams for various states. I am able to help students to become familiar with the test and learn how to dissect the material, as well as to understand the questions on the exam.
I am available from 9:00 am-8:00 pm. I charge $50 dollars/hour in person and prefer face-to-face lessons. I will tutor online if necessary. I am very patient and put the needs of my students first, and I will develop lessons that are interesting.
Learning should be enjoyable and not a chore. I teach my students that should always be challenged and not to be afraid to attempt to learn advanced topics. Making mistakes is a big part of learning. Please contact me for more details. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you build your confidence toward learning and to achieve your goals.
I have taught all grades and have tutored children from grades K-5, specifically regular education and special needs students.I am determined to help my students become successful and learn to be able to do their classwork and
homework each day on their own. Handwriting should be practiced each day, and I have experience in teaching the
correct way to write each letter so my students develop the correct way of writing.
I teach math vocabulary before teaching the actual mathematical concepts by using a hands-on approach. It is important to use objects to demonstrate each concept. Using real life situations in word problems are most important because students are able to understand and to relate to each problem. The approach verses lecturing makes not only enjoyable, but also allows the student to be able to work out visually and ultimately to develop a deep understanding of the mathematical concepts.
I have studied the Common Core from grades K-5 and am very familiar with it. I have experience teaching the Common Core with regular education students, as needs students with modified subject areas. I have developed interesting lessons in Math, Language Arts, and Science. In Language Arts, I have incorporated skills such as vocabulary, grammar, handwriting, spelling and fluency. In Math, I have incorporated vocabulary, word problems, and mathematical computation. In Science, I have taught vocabulary, and we conduct experiments. I have taught all Common Core subjects. I used technology, specifically educational you tube to help students gain a better understanding of what they
Teaching grammar cannot be solely taught from a textbook. I will correct my student's grammar when they are speaking and will always explain the rules of grammar to them. I use realistic sentences for examples so that they can relate to and understand each rule.
Encourage students to contact you to learn more and schedule lessons. I am available Monday-Saturday 9:00 am- 8:00pm.
I look forward to speaking with you about your academic concerns.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching regular and special needs students with the common core curriculum for the past five years. All subject areas such as math had components such as vocabulary, computational skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to apply what they have learned to real situations using problem solving skills. I use the hands on approach by first demonstrating the concepts and then having my students work out each problem with manipulatives. I have used Common Core materials that have helped my students to become successful when they took the EOG.
