I've been tutoring for 2 years in the public school system. My love for teaching has been in the forefront of my goals, however, raising a son alone caused me to start a career in the corporate world.
After years of working in that capacity, as a trainer in technology and other areas relating to education and educating new employees, it became clear to me after retiring to pursue my passion for education on a more personal level.
I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in English with a minor in communications. It is what I do and I have become an excellent communicator utilizing the command of the English Language. I've tutored students from various countries whom have accepted the United States as their home. Many children use English as a second language and I'm here to help them excel in learning the language.
I specialize in tutoring in English, verbal enunciation, articulation, reading, spelling and comprehension on the elementary school level. Whether we're working on pronunciation, spelling or comprehension I hold myself to a standard where it doesn't overwhelm the student but will challenge them. Receiving feedback from the student as well as their parents is essential and I will never bill if there is any level of dissatisfaction. I will be flexible with time, however, there will be a 24 hour cancellation period.
To ensure students have a quiet and comfortable learning atmosphere I will tutor at the Goldsboro Library. I will also travel to a location closer to the student. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you and your child during your academic journey to success! I've been tutoring for 2 years in the public school system. Thanks for working with my grandson. I can already see an improvement with his reading and his confidence has improved.
Dannette, it is truly a pleasure working with Kenneth. He has been a joy; encouragement and a little motivation helps as well as giving the student positive responses regarding their work. I hope to see you on Friday! Thanks for the compliments, gratitude and for allowing me to help you in his education!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
