Gettysburg College (History)
American Military University (Master's)
I hold my B.A. in History from Gettysburg College, from which I graduated magna cum laude. I hold an M.A. in History from American Military University.
I have a deep dedication to advancing the learning of history, which can be useful in developing the critical thinking and writing ability of students. During my undergraduate years, I worked as a historical researcher for the Civil War Institute of Gettysburg. I was selected as the leader of a team of researchers responsible for analyzing historical newspaper accounts related to the Gettysburg Address – contributing to the book 'The Gettysburg Gospel' by Dr. Gabor Boritt. Currently, I am working on publishing an article in a book edited by Dr. Peter Carmichael, the director of the Civil War Institute. I have another article under consideration by the Oregon Historical Quarterly. Two of my other articles have been published in the Saber & Scroll Journal of History – for which I serve as an editor. In the field of public history, I was responsible for giving tours of Gettysburg Battlefield, and presented a paper at an academic conference in Chattanooga, TN in November 2013 which was recognized with an award for excellence. My efforts in the study of relevant knowledge were recognized when I was inducted into Phi Alpha Theta (the national collegiate honor society for history students), Pi Gamma Mu (the national collegiate honor society for students of the social sciences), and other honor societies.
Other honors I have received which demonstrate my commitment to education include: National Dean’s List, a Bloustein Scholarship from the state of New Jersey, and the Praxis Series Certificate of Excellence in Social Studies for a high score on the Praxis II. I am also a member of the Organization of American Historians professional association. I was chosen as chief editor for Early American History, American Political History, and French Revolutionary History for the Saber and Scroll Journal of History late in 2013, and am committed to critical writing – which will prepare students for success in the future and in their other subjects in the present.
I have classroom experience as a substitute teacher.
It would be my pleasure to help you or your student reach the height of potential. I hold my B.A. in History from Gettysburg College, from which I graduated magna cum laude. I hold an M.A. in History from American Military University.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
