University of Missouri-Columbia (Physics)
North Carolina State Unitversity (Graduate Coursework)
I'm a former NC State graduate student who had to leave school for family reasons. However, I've never stopped loving physics. I used to teach several physics lab classes and tutored in the tutorial center on campus several hours a week. I have a Bachelor's in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Missouri as well as a Minor in Mathematics. While I was an undergrad I did a lot of hands-on physics research with different labs on campus, researching topics relating to biophysics and chemical engineering.
One of my favorite things on the planet is teaching new people the wonders of physics and mathematics. I find great joy in watching the moment of realization after a long study session. I enjoy teaching people of all different learning styles, and try to engage each student's personal strengths in the learning process.
Mathematics is a deeply important aspect of Physics. In college I took all kinds of calculus and other maths. As a lab instructor I had to teach Calculus as part of physics lessons. Plenty of the questions I received as a tutor were simply about math concepts instead of physics.
I've taught Physics labs before in a professional setting. I love the Physics and Astronomy with a burning passion and love teaching it to people.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
While getting my physics degree, I took many astronomy courses. I'm constantly looking at stars with my telescope and read about cosmology for fun. Physics and Astronomy go hand in hand, so I feel well qualified to tutor it.
Alongside my physics degree, I have a minor in mathematics. Physics is impossible to do without math, and more importantly without Calculus. I've taken many Calc courses over the years, and really enjoy teaching it.
As a physics student, Differential Equations were my bread and butter. I took Diff EQ in college and then the higher level differential equation classes. I've written a partial differential equation solver in Python. I feel very confident in my ability to help people learn to solve differential equations.
I have a BS in Physics from the University of Missouri-Columbia. I taught Physics labs and tutored for North Carolina State University. I love Physics.
