William Peace University (Elementary Education)
I am a rising senior at William Peace University in Raleigh, NC pursing a degree in elementary and special education. I perform as a student ambassador for my university in many areas including, but not limited to campus ministries, the teacher education club, and the university singers. I found my love for teaching at a very young age. I intend to work with students of all ages before I leave the Earth but at the moment I am seeking teaching and tutoring opportunities in the ranges of kindergarten through 6th grade in the general education curriculum and kindergarten through 12th grade in the special education curriculum.
I am a firm believer in the notion that every student is teachable and no student should go unnoticed based on their inability to perform at a set standard. My philosophy is as long as you put in the work you have no choice but to receive great results. My tutoring experiences have occurred at both the collegiate and non-collegiate level. I have experience with all elementary studies, middle school science and language arts, high school composition, literature, and Algebra 1, and collegiate algebra, public speaking, studies in fiction, advanced topics, professional writing, and biological and cultural anthropology. Within my major we have to teach lessons in all content areas so I am abreast to the common core curriculum and its entirety.
What makes me an outstanding reading tutor is (1) I love to read (2) reading and language arts has been my passion since I wanted to become a teacher and (3) I have been told by my peers I should be an English teacher because I am a grammar, proofreading, and editing junkie.
What makes me an outstanding Common Core tutor is the fact that my collegiate experience thus far has readied me to effectively teach according to the standards. In every lesson plan I have done we have to integrate at least one 21st century skill that the learner will either take away or perform.
What makes me an outstanding Elementary (K-6) tutor is the completed coursework thus far and premeditated student teaching experience I have to come. As a senior this coming fall semester I have already completed my special education practicum (observation). I just have my general education practicum and student teaching experience. I believe the skills and concepts I was exposed to in my special education practicum will translate into my elementary experiences.
So to my learners and/or their parents for more information feel free to email me about any reservations you may have, more tutoring or teaching experiences you still inquire, or to schedule your son's or daughter's tutoring session. I look forward to increasing you or your student's academic success. I am a rising senior at William Peace University in Raleigh, NC pursing a degree in elementary and special education. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
