Whether it be helping students learn basic reading skills, or helping students with grammar homework, to helping students successfully and effectively write papers, I find passion in it all. I have previously been in the Elementary Education major, and have completed two years of that. I have completed student teaching and completed a multitude of hours mentoring in elementary schools as well as after school services for children in Charlotte, North Carolina.
My passion first began as a child when I found myself obsessing over writing, reading, language, you name it. I have always found myself wanting to learn more and more, when it comes to English and writing. As I entered college, I realized that working with children was something that I was just meant to do. I began my college career as a Social Work major, again wanting to work with children and help children. However, I realized that English and the teaching of the writing and language aspects of it was where my heart lies.
I have completed hours mentoring and student teaching in elementary schools in Charlotte, North Carolina, I have mentored/tutored at after school services for K-5th grades. I am also working on Bachelor's degree in English.
Helping students succeed is something I am more that passionate about. I always struggled in school, and I know what it is like to feel that you simply "can not" do it. However, you can! Help is always the best way to go when it pertains to school. Never be scared to say that you need help, because it will only benefit you. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
