About Stephanie

Hello, welcome to my profile. I am a certified and licensed Elementary Teacher and K-12 Reading Teacher. I have been working with youth in both the public school and church ministry sectors for over ten years.

I love people, especially young people. I love helping students reach their fullest potential by tailoring assignments to fit students' individual needs.

What is your child'support learning style? Do they learn best by hands-on assignments? Through listening? Through visual aid? I teach using a variety of resources to help learners succeed in school and in life.

I am an outstanding English Language Arts and math tutor because I love the craft. I have had proven success in my professional career while working with children, and in my personal endeavors by obtaining a Master's of Education Degree in Reading Language Arts, a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary Education K-6 (all subjects), and several professional development certificates in English Language Arts and Math .

Contact me for tutoring sessions, and allow me to give your child a pre-assessment, so that I can design lessons to fit your child's individual learning needs.

At the end of our session, your will be assessed again, so that you can see their progress and growth from beginning to end. You won't be disappointed.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Common Core

I currently work for a school system that uses Common Core in all subject areas. I am familiar with the state standards for all grade levels in Reading, English Language Arts. I have been using Common Core since inception. I have access to the CCSS and know how to implement them.

I am licensed and certified to teach elementary education for grades K-6. I have been teaching elementary education for 13 years. My skills and qualifications come from years of teaching phonics, comprehension, spelling, vocabulary, social studies, science, writing, language, and cursive handwriting. I have taught as a classroom teacher in public school, and as a after school tutor. My skills also include lesson planning using Common Core Standards. I welcome the opportunity to serve you.

I currently teach sixth grade literature in middle school. My past experience includes 10+ years teaching literature in elementary school. I expose my students to a variety of genres, to include fiction and nonfiction novels and passages. While exposing my students to various genres of literature, I teach the comprehension skills: main idea, author's purpose, author's argument, making inferences, author's point of view, sequence of events, text features, text structure, context clue, vocabulary, summarizing, etc. I enjoy teaching students to read and to explore literature.
