Hello Prospective Students:
I am a 22 year veteran educator who has taught in public schools for 17 years. In addition, I have served as an elementary school assistant principal for 3 years and a middle school assistant principal for 2 years. My teaching experience includes the following: English/language arts to 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th graders; and 7th grade mathematics and social studies. I have served as a middle and high school English/language arts chairperson. Currently, I teach 8th grade differentiated studies. In that class, I help students improve their reading comprehension, especially of informational texts. Through my differentiated studies class, I often help students with social studies, science, and mathematics assignments.
If I had my way, every student would be in love with reading and writing. I believe that reading is essential to being a successful student from kindergarten through college. When students have a difficult time reading and understanding an article, short story, or novel, I try to find the best entry point based on the students' learning styles. Some students love real world connections through informational texts. Others like to make learning connections through art and technology. I understand that all students learn differently; however, I believe every student can learn. Allow me to connect with you to make learning accessible and fun. Hello Prospective Students:

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
