Grand Canyon University - online (Social Studies)
My name is Gerard and I just finished my student teaching assignment at Flaming Sword Christian Academy, Fayetteville, North Carolina under the guidance of Dr. Paul Jensen. I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education for Social Studies. I am very passionate about what I am teaching. I make the assignments fun and challenging to the students. I will set goals and make sure the goals are attainable.
I believe in treating students with respect. I will create a respectful classroom through both words and deeds and I will get to know my students strengths and weaknesses and their backgrounds to meet their individual needs. We will transform weakness into strength. Fostering a positive attitude will make my students happier individuals both in and outside my classroom.I believe that all students can learn from their teacher and their peers. I like using life experiences to teach my subjects and I am a very good listener to understand what my students need.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a 3.99 grade average. My degree is a BS degree in secondary Education with an emphasis on Social Studies.
I have several endorsements as to my qualifications to teach. I am including one of them here.

Subject: Letter of Reference for Gerard K.
To Whom It May Concern:
I’ve been the mentor teacher for Mr. Gerard K. this year. While I wish him only the best and fully understand that he must advance his career, I’m truly sorry to see him go. It has been a pleasure having him on my team.
Mr. K. is a professional instructor of the highest caliber, who has helped his students not only pass, but excel in Economics. I’ve received many compliments from students who rely on Mr. K.’s instruction. Management, parents and other staff personnel praise his work.
Mr. K. is an innovative self-starter, who rarely needs supervision. He is punctual and typically exceeds expectations. He handles pressure well, and will voluntarily work overtime and take work home to meet a deadline. For example, Mr. K. has worked many hours after school and during the weekend preparing his lesson plans. Not only did all of his students passed Economics, but excelled with very high marks. Parents, teachers, and the entire staff were quite pleased with Mr. K.’s performance. Even our Director was impressed, and our students were ecstatic. This is just one example among many of Mr. K.’s superior skills and admirable work ethics.
Mr. K. is an invaluable asset to any instructional department, and I highly recommend hiring him. If you would like to discuss his attributes in more detail, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

I am immersed in public speaking even as I write this. I have been actively involved in my church as a reader and as an actor during Passion week that culminates in Easter Sunday. On a more secular note, I have been prominent in the local and regional theater for many years and these include any number of performances in leading, supporting and secondary character roles that range from Shakespeare (Othello) to new public world premiere plays ( Dateline: Greensboro). I project very well, think fast on my feet and have taken public speaking courses in college.
In fact, I have taken to impromptu characterization of famous historical speeches, debates, statements as they pertain to the particular history lesson or unit of study.
