A continuous drumbeat of linguistic exchanges on the island of Haiti sparked my passion for languages. Growing up in Haiti, i spoke French and Creole. My love for languages inspired me to pursue a major in French and Spanish at The University of Texas at El Paso. I have worked as a French tutor at my home university where I helped the students improve their communication skills before they embark on their journey to study abroad. I studied at The Sorbonne University in Paris, France for a semester. There I studied phonetics, history, and architecture. In the end, I walked away with valuable knowledge and a French certificate.
I am patient with students due to my own experience of learning a foreign language. It has been a dream of mine to learn English since childhood and I am very fortunate that it came true. I am currently learning Spanish and also hope to attain fluency. These experiences show me that it is crucial to be patient with those who are learning a foreign language because it is a challenging process.
