Ashley is very patient with my son. She pushes he out of his shell and has came up with creative games to enhance his ELA. I really appreciate that she updates me on things she is going over with him at the end of each session.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received my bachelor's degree in elementary education with an emphasis in language arts from Carroll University. My teaching experience includes time as an English teacher in various grades. I have spent time creating and teaching a unit on the writing process for my students. One of the important steps in that process is to be able to successfully proofread a piece of writing. Proofreading is essential in the writing process of every type of writing assignment.
I hold a teaching license in elementary education with an emphasis in language arts. My experience includes creating lessons that focus on the needs and learning styles on individual students. I also have experience teaching studying and test taking strategies. My teaching career has included work with students of varying reading levels, but most of my experience is with struggling readers that are below grade level. I have worked with them to improve reading comprehension by providing reading strategies and and helping them to find reading material that interests them. Finding enjoyment in reading and increasing their confidence in reading will help them to demonstrate growth in other subjects since reading is an interdisciplinary subject in any grade.
