The SAT consists of a finite number of skills and disciplines, all coachable. The SAT is not an intelligence test, it is a skills test. For example, linear equations occur in word problems about money and work time, graphs that must be interpreted, and systems of equations that must be solved or analyzed. Seeing these three categories as similar leads to immediate recognition of a problem type, and a finite number of questions that are asked about it. These questions are usually about the y-intercept, (e.g.: would the cost of maintaining a vehicle be \$0 if gas were free?) the slope, (e.g.: if the cost of gasoline increases by \$1 per gallon, what is the total increase for the vehicle maintenance for the year?) and the mathematical analysis. (e.g.: what is an equation that represents the total maintenance costs for this vehicle for one year?) If a student masters just this problem type and the three questions, about 15-20% of the SAT math section will become manageable and simple. I love tutoring because I can help bring young people from a place of stress and pressure to determination and confidence. Just as with athletics or music, this is a matter of clear goals, disciplined practice, and strategic focus.

For example, the math never goes above simple algebra. The principle challenge is to know what skills will be required, and have strategies for problem solving and more importantly, time management. A system of linear equations can be solved at least three ways. If you know all three, you have a full toolkit as far as seeing which path is quickest to an answer. But knowing how to pull the right tool out of the bag is the key to solving it in 30 seconds instead of 5 minutes. The SAT is really about time-management, confidence, and simple endurance. I can coach you to become an SAT athlete with not only skills, but also the reps to finish in accord with your goals.

Spend the whole class time( 1 hour) doing one problem. His teaching style is not my preference because I had to do a portion of the problem. I learned nothing from the class period
