University of North Carolina Asheville (Literature)
My name is Savannah B. and I am a recent graduate from the University of North Carolina at Asheville where I graduated with a Literature Degree, a minor in history, and ELA certification for grades 6-12. I completed my student teaching at a high school outside of Asheville, NC and taught two standard 10th grade English classes and one AP Lang class.
Where I excel is relatability and patience. I am willing to use many strategies to help you or your student get to their desired level. Being young has given me the advantage of being willing to try new strategies instead of sticking to ones that I have used in the past.
I have tutored for both elementary and high-school students, with middle-school experience as well. I can tutor for Social Studies/History at all levels and Math at levels lower than 9th grade comfortably. I am flexible and easy to work with--always ready to come with a smile on my face.
I have taken many literature classes--World Literature, English Literature, Southern Literature, Ethnic Literature, British Literature, Drama, Poetry and have had to write papers for all of the classes. I consistently produced work that received high grades and excellent comments. Proofreading and writing in general are two of my strong suites and I am especially adept at helping to produce research papers and argumentative essays. Having received teacher education, public speaking is also something that I am comfortable assisting with.
I hope to hear from you for all of your English needs! I'm a patient and giving tutor who will help you using whatever strategies work best for you! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
