My scientific expertise has been gained through my B.S. in Biochemisty, B.S. in Molecular Genetics, and Ph.D. in Genetics & Genomics from Duke University. I have experience as a teaching assistant in Biochemistry, where I led review sessions to prepare students for exams, in which I reviewed material and guided students in problem solving exercises to facilitate mastery of biochemistry concepts. I also have experience as a professional tutor in the subjects of genetics and microbiology. Expanding from course materials, I identify and modify resources to increase students' understanding of genetic and microbiology concepts; I teach problem-solving strategies to assist students in mastering topics, completing assignments, and preparing for exams.
I also served as a teaching assistant in the department of Computer Science, where I provided instruction to students learning basic web design, MS Word, MS Access, and advanced MS Excel skills. Use of MS Excel in my graduate studies, has furthered my skills in managing and interpreting large data sets.
My education and experience has instilled a love of biological sciences that I aim to share with and foster in my students. Please contact me to learn more and schedule lessons, I look forward to working with you!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Ph.D. in genetics and genomics from Duke University. I was previously employed as a genetics tutor for one year as a senior undergraduate student. I have several years of experience in genetic research, where I have utilized my genetic knowledge daily.
