I am a PhD student in environmental economics at Duke University with extensive tutoring and teaching experience. As an undergraduate studying economics and math, I tutored local high school students in math, social studies, and SAT prep. I also helped tutor athletes at George Washington University in a wide range of subjects. As a graduate student, I have tutoring experience in economics, statistics, STATA programming, and GRE prep. I also have extensive teaching assistant experience in a range of economics topics. I was selected as the best teaching assistant of the year in my master's program. Furthermore, I received excellent teaching evaluations in an undergraduate course in Public Economics at Duke University. I mostly tutor undergraduate and graduate students, but also can meet with high school students in SAT prep, ACT prep, AP Calculus, AP Economics, or AP Statistics.
I love teaching and working with students, and believe strongly in teacher and tutor preparation. Before each tutoring session, I ask students to provide me with a list of topics and/or specific problems they want to discuss, and come to each session prepared to provide helpful feedback.

Jenny is a great tutor! She is very knowledgeable, but more importantly is able to articulate the material in a clear and concise way. She is a very patient tutor and really wants you to understand the material. She is extremely responsive and flexible with your schedule. I highly recommend Jenny to anyone needing extra assistance!
Jenny is a great tutor. She went above and beyond in helping me to develop my understanding of statistical methods. Jenny is reliable and patient with excellent subject knowledge. I highly recommend her.
Jenny was a lifesaver to me this past academic year. She really helped me through PhD level linear regression coursework. I was so lucky to find a tutor who has this specialized knowledge **and** is a very competent teacher. In addition, Jenny is very calm, reliable, and flexible. I would not hesitate to recommend her as a tutor.
I started working with Jenny after my first midterm for ECON 101 at UNC. I needed to understand the material better and improve my test scores. Since my class was taught like a flipped classroom, it was very helpful to have someone else to review the material with and Jenny was able to explain the concepts in different ways than the textbook. She was very reliable and was able to meet with me once a week. My test scores improved tremendously. If you're looking for an Economics tutor make sure to contact Jenny!
I had a tutoring session with Jenny recently and it was an amazing experience. She is extremely talented and very knowledgable. She knows how to make concepts very clear to her students. Session was very interactive and I was able to understand the concepts right away. I had difficulty to understand few concepts even after reading several chapters but she made those topics look very easy in no time. Jenny is blessed with art of teaching. She is great in responding to clarify my questions out of sessions. I would highly recommend her for Economics tutoring. Thanks so much Jenny. You ROCK!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I grew up in Southeast Asia, where I first learned Chinese. I also worked in Taiwan for two years after graduation where I primarily used Chinese. I also worked as a translator for translation of Chinese academic documents at Wallace Translation for a year.
