My background is mostly in school based settings, I worked in a public school in CT before I moved to NC for 5 years. I was a 1:1 therapist in an Autism exclusive classroom. I have worked with children on the spectrum from very low functioning to high functioning. Duties included discreet trail training, behavior modification, modifying regular education curriculum for those needed, working closely with classroom teachers to achieve the success of their students.
I have closely followed IEP's as well as written lesson plans and come up with programs according to IEP goals and objectives. I have experience keeping data on a whole range of goals, including reading, writing and math; as well as daily living and social/emotional goals.
Working 1:1 with students is so rewarding. It's great to see their personalities open up when working individually with a teacher and more than satisfying to watch their progress.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I worked as a 1:1 paraprofessional as well as an ABA therapist in a public school setting. I worked with children with ADD/ADHD, Autism, Aspergers and other developmental and learning delays. I have experience with modifying regular curriculum as well as creating lesson plans according to IEP goals and objectives.
Redirection, behavior modification as well as physical behavior were all a part of my training.
I worked in an elementary school setting for 5 years in K-2 classrooms where handwriting was a great focus. I also worked as a Special Ed aide and am familiar with the Handwriting with out Tears program. I worked alongside OT's as well using this program.
When my daughter was in K (2014-15) I was the handwriting volunteer, working with all the children in her class on forming their letters correctly.
