Hi, I'm Gregory! I'm a professional math tutor with seven years' experience. During that time, I have also done much science tutoring and math college placement test tutoring, and I have done remedial math teaching for the past two semesters. I have also written many tutorials for various math subjects that students struggled with that they could use for help when a tutor was not available.

I started work as a professional tutor after I graduated Virginia Tech in Spring 2013 with my B.S. in Mathematics. I was not really certain then what I wanted to do for a career. I had many ideas come and go, but my work-study experience tutoring at New River Community College before I went to Virginia Tech stuck with me. There was nothing more satisfying than to break down a problem and see something that a student had a hard time with become simple. Not long after graduating, I went back to New River Community College to see if I could keep doing tutoring, and then I learned that I could do it professionally, not just for work-study. I have been a professional tutor ever since.

One of my strengths as a math tutor, I would say, is my ability to teach it and to teach it simply. I can not only do the problem, but I can break it down into steps and delve into why we have the steps and why they are done the way they are. I know the content well enough to be in-depth, and I can apply it in an easy-to-remember fashion. It is this kind of knowledge that I've seen help students cease from struggling with problems.

Another one of my strengths as a math tutor is, I would say, boldness. Even if I have not seen the content before, I know enough to try messing with it instead of being scared off. This is how I became good at tutoring statistics, and I have been able to help many students in that subject and many others just because I was bold enough to try.

I am easy to reach and will respond to inquiries quickly. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!

great lesson

Great lesson ! Gregory was patient to review some trigonometry concepts with me for a calculus class. Great tutor, would definitely recommend. Look forward to my next tutoring sesson

Wonderful tutor!

My son desperately needed a tutor to support him on his first pre-college course in Engineering Design. Gregory replied to the request fast, and did everything to adjust to my son's needs in terms of syllabus analysis, time of meetings, and of course, was very knowledgeable. My son went from panicking mode to being a lot more confident that he could do well in the course. A very responsible and supportive tutor, with a reasonable rate.

Very Thorough

We went over Signals and systems, specifically the Laplace transform. I haven’t seen this kind of math in a while and Greg really helped to refresh my memory. I look forward to our next session!

Awesome Tutor! Helped a ton!

Was struggling with some of the concepts of Circuit Analysis, BUT not anymore!! Greg was a huge help, explaining the topics in a way that was easy to understand and he even pointed out some tricks I could use to make the class a bit easier to understand. For anybody struggling with Circuit Analysis, Greg is your man.
