Hi, I'm Gregory! I'm a professional math tutor with seven years' experience. During that time, I have also done much science tutoring and math college placement test tutoring, and I have done remedial math teaching for the past two semesters. I have also written many tutorials for various math subjects that students struggled with that they could use for help when a tutor was not available.

I started work as a professional tutor after I graduated Virginia Tech in Spring 2013 with my B.S. in Mathematics. I was not really certain then what I wanted to do for a career. I had many ideas come and go, but my work-study experience tutoring at New River Community College before I went to Virginia Tech stuck with me. There was nothing more satisfying than to break down a problem and see something that a student had a hard time with become simple. Not long after graduating, I went back to New River Community College to see if I could keep doing tutoring, and then I learned that I could do it professionally, not just for work-study. I have been a professional tutor ever since.

One of my strengths as a math tutor, I would say, is my ability to teach it and to teach it simply. I can not only do the problem, but I can break it down into steps and delve into why we have the steps and why they are done the way they are. I know the content well enough to be in-depth, and I can apply it in an easy-to-remember fashion. It is this kind of knowledge that I've seen help students cease from struggling with problems.

Another one of my strengths as a math tutor is, I would say, boldness. Even if I have not seen the content before, I know enough to try messing with it instead of being scared off. This is how I became good at tutoring statistics, and I have been able to help many students in that subject and many others just because I was bold enough to try.

I am easy to reach and will respond to inquiries quickly. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!

So smart, patient, and good at teaching/communicating

We worked on circuit analysis and Thevenin equivalent circuits. He was able to jump right in and help me with a problem without seeing it beforehand and he described things in a way that was so easy to understand. Very thankful after a quarter of quarantine "Zoom University" hell to find an amazing tutor.

Knowledgable, flexible and patient

Gregory is an excellent tutor, who was able to help me ace a course that I was struggling on. Greg is very flexible and as a result, I was able to get in many hours that fitted both our schedules. He was also on time 100% of the time. Greg is highly knowledgeable. The course I was tutored in was Real Analysis, which is notorious for being one of the hardest final math classes as a college undergraduate. Greg was able to help me solve problem sets and taught me new ways to approach problems that I previously did not have the knowledge to. Lastly, Greg is a very patient tutor which I believe is one of the most important traits. There were many times where I needed certain concepts re-explained multiple times and while other tutors would have been annoyed or frustrated, Greg would re-explain patiently. Thank you Greg! All the best to you.
