About Pamela

I have been working with children with special needs for 14 years. I started my career as a teacher’s aide. I worked in a special needs school in New York. This position developed my passion for teaching children with special needs. I decided then to go to school to become a special education teacher.

I moved to North Carolina and started my schooling to become a special educator at UNC Charlotte. I graduated Cum Laud with a Degree in Special Education. During my student teaching experience, I was offered a position as a teacher's aide while I was student teaching. I worked with a student who had cerebral palsy. I loved it. I was one of the few student teachers who was able to get paid to student teach. I also worked for Turning Points which is a company that provides services to families with children with special needs. During that time, I worked for three wonderful families who had children with autism.

Shortly after the end of my student teaching experience, I obtained a position as a special educator for Cabarrus County Schools. I have been at a wonderful school for six years. I am a resource and inclusion teacher. I love my job and plan on teaching there for many years to come.

Before and after school I work as a private tutor. Tutoring is a passion of mine. One-on-one time with students is the main reason I love tutoring. I have been tutoring for six years and I have provided services for over 15 students. I develop engaging and interactive lessons for my students. Parents tell me they have noticed growth in their children both academically and emotionally. I am a believer in growth not proficiency. All children can grow.

I am highly-qualified to teach English Language Arts. I work as a special educator in the English Language Arts classroom. I have been teaching ELA for six years. I teach the Common Core in reading, grammar, and writing. My passion for children with special needs encouraged me to become a special educator. I have a degree in special education from UNNC. I have been working with students with autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities for 14 years.

Do you want to grow as a reader? Are you ready to finally enjoy reading? Do you want to pass the EOG and have fun doing it? Please contact me for more information about my rates and hours. Remember children regress over the summer months. Keep your skills sharp with fun and engaging lessons.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
