Hola! I am excited about meeting you and helping you succeed.
I have both taught and tutored students of all ages and abilities, even adults both Spanish and Mathematics for over 20 years. Although I have a degree in Chemical Engineering, I realized early in my career that I am passionate about helping students understand their coursework and succeed in it. My experience and background have taught me that the expectations upon our youth is extremely high in this global economy. Therefore, my belief as I teach my students is first of all that they understand each piece of information well. By doing so, they will be able to meet any challenge they will encounter through assignments, quizzes, tests and exams. Also, a good understanding of the material is critical towards minimizing stress and maximizing self-confidence.
I am flexible regarding our meeting place. I can travel to your place of residence, to the student's school (if this is allowed), or to a mutually convenient public library. Since I will be travelling to meet with your student, I need to be informed about a cancellation at least 2 hours before the lesson is to take place. I am also willing to make up the lesson, taking into consideration optimum preparedness toward upcoming assessments.
I develop a good working relationship with my students, so that I can accurately assess their level of understanding throughout the lesson. I also make sure that my students understand the terminology, so that they can recognize it and be able to apply it well in every academic challenge. Also, my educational background as an engineer, as well as my teaching experience allow me to anticipate and work toward meeting the proficiency requirements.
Spanish is my native language. Therefore, it is as natural for me to teach it to a student as it would be for anyone to expose one's children, even for the first time to one's own language. Also, I am highly effective teaching our students in the United States, because I have done so for many years now. In addition, I have travelled extensively to Spanish speaking countries. This insures that my knowledge of the language is current and culturally correct. Finally, I hold a K-12 Spanish teaching license.
I am sincerely looking forward to meeting your student(s).

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
