My teaching, administrative, and tutorial experiences span over thirty-eight years. I am currently retired but have never lost my passion for helping students succeed and become productive individuals with the same passion to serve as role models and caring people. My goal for each of them is to live up to their own individual capabilities and potential, as well as academically succeeding at their own pace for the desired outcome. I have been an Assistant Principal, director of a very successful mentoring program, Drug Free Schools coordinator (earning the honor of having eight of our nine schools awarded on the national level). I have also taught elementary school, gifted education, and special education. I have written several articles that have been published, and worked for the US Department of Education as an official to visit schools all over the nation to observe programs and offer assistance in program planning. My visions are very far reaching. My goal is to be an integral component of the children that I tutor to become the very best in all aspects of their lives. By being a role model myself, giving encouragement, and tutoring to the best of my ability, I expect my students to be successful and proud of their accomplishments.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Having taught and tutored over 38 years, my competencies in all elementary academic subjects are multi-faceted. My tutoring methods are pinpointed and targeted to the individual student's needs, capabilities, and potential. Integral components of their success is feeling accomplished, setting goals for themselves with the tutor serving also as a caring role model. The focus is taking the student to their utmost capabilities and potential. A tutor is a safety net for those needing individual assistance in a one-on-one scenario.
As a reading specialist, my focus has been on phonics as a foundation and basis for reading successfully and having a lifelong ability to decode and understand words, utilizing phonics, that lead to competency. Methods include: recognition of letter sounds, consonant blends, and decoding of sounds in a pattern of letters that will compose the formation of complete words. My experiences of teaching phonics include phonics based programs, for example, Mastery Teaching. My approach is multi-faceted according to the individual's learning style.
I am a retired reading specialist and was in education for 38 years. My experience includes a multi-faceted approach to the individual learning styles of each student.
