About John

There are no hard concepts; everyone has the same capacity to grasp any understanding from Algebra to Astro-Physics. The problem is that Educators do not always exercise enough patience, kindness and sensitivity to take what are seemingly complex concepts and make them digestible for everyday people. Everything can be broken down to its fundamental purpose. However, when Educators fall short, the result is that students do not believe in themselves.

I have been delivering public, group education and training meetings for over ten years in the financial/retirement industry. I have conducted meetings for as many as 200 and as few as 5. I have also provided 1X1 consultations to hundreds.

For over ten years, I have worked in the securities industry, educating young people an adults alike on financial planning concepts and investments. I specialize in: Statistics, Economics, Managerial Economics, Managerial Accounting and Finance. In addition, I have a strong academic background in business and finance. I hold a Master's degree in Finance, an MBA in Management and a BS in Business.

I enjoy helping students. Please contact me for more information on scheduling a session.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I have studied the history and progression of what is considered today to be the 27 canons of the new testament writings, beginning with the four gospels and thru to the Apocalypse. I have a particular expertise in Church history around the development and progression of the "Reformation" in Europe and its spread to America after the Fall of the Eastern Roman Empire in 1453. I have written on Pre-Reformation figures such as John Wycliffe and Jan Huss as well as later Reformation figures such as Martin Luther, John Calvin and many others.

Business

I have studied business quite extensively; starting as an undergraduate. I received a B.S degree in Business Studies. I studied: Entrepreneurship, Management, Leadership and many of the core subject you would expect such as: Finance, Accounting, Economics and Statistics. Later, I studied for an MBA degree with a concentration in Management. On the graduate level, I focused more intensively on different aspects of these core courses, i.e, economics (managerial economics, international economics), Accounting (managerial accounting), etc. Later, I studied for a second Master's degree in Finance which was an intensive study of different aspects including: Financial Statement Analysis, Corporate Finance and Shareholder valuation.

Drums

I have studied percussion over twenty years. My mentor and trainer was a professional contract percussionist who recorded as a session drummer and played with various well known groups such as the classic rock group "Meatloaf". I am skilled in rudiments, reading charts, syncopation, playing in odd times, and in various styles such as Jazz and fusion.

Microsoft Windows

I have worked with Microsoft Windows almost since its genesis, starting in College as an undergraduate, through both grad programs and throughout my working career. I am familiar with most if not all utilities of Windows and have been characterized as a "go to" person regarding Windows and anything technological in nature. In addition, I take a few CIS and MIS courses throughout the academics.

Public Speaking

I have been a professional presenter for ten years in the financial industry; having conducted hundreds of onsite group education meetings and seminars for as many as 200 and as few as 5 attendees. I have been trained in how to be an effective public speaker who can make an impact by persuasion and call to action. I am also very practiced in the use of audio visual tools used during presentations; power point, projectors, iPad and iPhone as presentation mediums.

Series 63

I have been FINRA Series 63 licensed since September of 2007 working in the financial industry as a Retirement Education Counselor. I successfully passed the exam on my first try. I have also helped prepare peers to take the exam and pass. In addition, I hold other similar licenses; Series 6 and Series 26.

Statistics

I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business/Statistics and specialize in Statistics.
