About Louis

After graduating college with a teaching degree from the state of New jersey, I taught in the public school system in Vineland, NJ. I taught multiple levels of Algebra in the Vineland school system. I left this field for several years, as I used my teaching skills to teach restaurant managers how to manage their business.

I returned to teaching 20 years ago, and have been teaching all levels of high school math including Algebra and geometry. I branched out of these area to teach physics, trigonometry and calculus.

I use various approaches to help each individual student understand the material and how it is used in the world around us. With this much experience I can develop a program to insure understanding. Every student can learn and understand any concept as long as it is presented in a method they relate to.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Algebra I is the building block for math. I taught Algebra for over 15 years. Algebra is used in all other math. I've taught all the other high school maths.

Algebra 2

Algebra II is one of those subjects that requires some critical thinking. Although most of the concepts have been covered in Algebra I this course takes you to another level. Having taught high school math for 28 years I know I can help you understand this subject.

Elementary Math

I have over 20 years of experience teaching math at all levels. I teach understanding and will help you understand math so it will become a pleasure to do.

Geometry

I have taught geometry for over 12 years, and I've taught trig for 20 years.

Prealgebra

Being a math teacher for over 20 years, I've taught Algebra to all levels. Algebra is the building block of math, and pre-algebra is the first step.

Precalculus

I have been teaching math for 28 years. I enjoy teaching PreCalculus because it "pulls" all the Algebras together. I have taught PreCalculus for over 20 years.

SAT Math

During the school year I teach SAT prep. Having taught every high school math class from Algebra through Calculus, I have the experience needed to help someone prepare.

Trigonometry

I have taught high school trigonometry for the past 20 years, it is a subject I truly enjoy. Knowing this subject so well helps to so the student the usefulness and relevance of this subject. Along with Trigonometry I have taught Algebra II and I can relate the two areas of math.
