I have several years of experience in the classroom of elementary, middle and high school. I also have been an assistant with a special needs class for several years and have experience with all different kinds of learning disabilities. I am a mom of an autistic son so I know and understand those challenges as well. I have experience tutoring elementary students in math and reading as well as writing. I have taught elementary and middle school vocal and piano lessons. I also have my ESL certification and have tutored in that area.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have had experience working and tutoring children in elementary school with both ADD and ADHD. Students like this need a strong but kind hand to keep them on track and sometimes repetition over and over of the information at hand. Frequent brakes are helpful as well as using their likes to keep their focus. I am completing my degree in Elementary Ed/Special Ed at this time.
I have assisted for been a teaching assistant for 3 years in a classroom for children at various levels of the Autism Spectrum. I have experience working one on one with each child which is exactly what tutoring is so that each student will reach their goals and full potential. I have set goals for each student and then worked daily one on one with them to reach his/her goals.
