Teach hope through learning. This is why I became a teacher. To Teach! I love being a teacher. There is nothing else I wanted to do. Through the years teachers have become administrators that create, audit and sign off on documents that make the state and federal government happy and keep those dollars rolling in. As a teacher there is nothing like seeing that spark in a student's eye when the learn a fact or feel the power of confidence and control that a student gets through learning. I had a student that read at the K level. After a year of tutoring and working with this student, he was able to read at the 2nd grade level. The pride and confidence reflected in that student's face was what a teacher lives for. His parents were so happy and had such hope and pride for their child that the mother cried and the father's chest puffed a little larger. They thanked me, but I told them that is what a teacher does. That is the moments as a teacher that I live for.
I am NC Certified Special Ed. teacher and have had the honor to work and with all levels of disabilities for 18 years. Autism, Down Syndrome, TBI, Developmentally Delay, Epilepsy and those with Cerebral Palsy. I have also worked with dyslexic students and am trained in the use of the interventions used for dyslexic students. I also am Certified in Middle School Language Arts and have been training as a Reading Teacher and have worked with several types of reading intervention programs. I have also created some of my own intervention reading programs. I believe in the combination of kinetic, tactile and visual learning. Learning is not a one size fits all. We all learn differently and we must as teachers learn to adjust our learning styles and the most current philosophies of how students learn. Part of being a teacher is to make sure that learning is a relative and exciting process that excites the imagination.
I love being a teacher. It is my chosen career and love. I believe that every student, child can learn. My goal is to help the student achieve the very bests they can be and make their lives one of change, hope and happiness. Education can open doors to the world and beyond. That is what my tutoring will give to you child. I teach, Hope Through Education!!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
