To enrich my teaching abilities, I enrolled in an early childhood (K-3) program in undergrad school and took courses toward that goal. Later on, I received a BA degree in Social Science from Gardner Webb University. I completed graduate coursework in early childhood development at UNC-Charlotte. I obtained a masters in education from the University of Phoenix in 2012. My credentials include a Credential in Early Childhood Development: Level 6, from NCDCD. I received a Family Support Credential from Duke University: Continuing Studies. I received a credential from The NCPEN: Parent Educator. I received a certificate to teach BSAC by The NCDCD. I have an ESL Instructor Credential. I am qualified to tutor children and adults in ESL.
I have much experience in working with and tutoring children. I served as a Youth worker under direction of Youth Services: Charlotte Housing Authority in Charlotte, NC; My duties consisted of managing a Learning Center for children, providing tutoring and enriching experiences. I served as a tutor/teacher in an afterschool program at a local community center in Charlotte. My experience consisted of working as a program specialist at a local Boys and Girls Club which entailed providing tutoring experiences for elementary and middle school children. I served as an administrator at a Child development Center where tutoring experiences were provided for elementary children in reading, grammar and basic math.
I have passed the Praxis 2: Early childhood 5022 which covered basic math concepts. I am a problem solver with patience and dedication.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to teach ESL/ESOL because I have had some experience working with adult ESL learners in a community college setting. My experience as an educator has placed me in various positions working with foreign speaking students. My husband hails from Africa and therefore I have been exposed to a variety of immigrants with English as their second language. I have a Credential in Fast track ESL Instructor Training. I have a masters in education which included coursework pertinent to working with adult and child learners.
