About Ed

I earned a master’s degree in criminal justice from UNC Charlotte in 2010 with a 3.8 grade point average, a graduate certificate in sociology from Appalachian State University in 2013 with a 4.0 grade point average, and a master’s degree in adult education from East Carolina University in 2014, also with a 4.0 grade point average. I believe the coursework I completed since graduating from UNC Charlotte has enhanced my ability to be a successful tutor. The additional coursework in sociology has given me a broader understanding of social theories, which has enabled me to find new and more effective ways to explain the dynamics of the criminal justice system. Through the master’s program in adult education, I learned to apply evidence-based instructional methods to the criminal justice courses I tutor; these methods have helped me retain students’ interest as well as guide them toward deeper levels of critical thinking.

Over the past five years I have taught many courses in criminal justice and sociology. Though I enjoy teaching all criminal justice courses, my favorite courses to teach have been Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminology, Criminal Law, and any sociology course that focuses on social justice issues.

I have developed and taught undergraduate courses in Sociology. I also have a graduate certificate in sociology.

My interest as both an undergraduate and graduate student was criminal law.

I have a master's degree in criminal justice. I have taught undergraduate criminal justice courses for the last five years.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
