I have been tutoring students since I was in high school and this continued throughout my undergraduate studies. I had the opportunity to tutor both elementary and middle school students with success. My love of tutoring continued while working in the mental health field. Upon graduating I began working as an administrator for a mental health agency where I was one of the top tutors for the clients. I’ve tutored all ranges of students from elementary, middle, high as well as continuing education students.
I enjoy tutoring so much that after completing graduate school I began a career in substitute teaching. I have now been teaching for over 3 years as a long-term substitute Math teacher and my students have excelled well above their schoolmates. Most recently, my students scored the highest in the school on their end of course Math 1 test. This accomplishment motivates me even more to push my students into becoming the best scholars that they can be.
I am very passionate about teaching and I take pride in guiding my students towards success. I understand that students often fear things that they have once failed at and do not understand. My job as a teacher and as a tutor is to explain the problem in a way that my student understands it, and once they understand it they are now enabled to conquer it.
I have been tutoring Algebra 1 for many years and just this past year I taught Math 1 and my students scored the highest in my school.
I understand the mechanics of the English language and believe that others should understand it as well.
I have taught all of these subjects for over five years and my students have shown vast improvement while working with me.
I have taught all levels of students from regular students to EC, ELL, ESL, and I love to convert the material to a language that they understand. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
