Hi, I'm Josh R., a 27 year old male with a love of helping and teaching students to achieve their personal and educational goals. I have worked as a Teaching Assistant for 5 years with students grades K-8, and I enjoy knowing the satisfaction my students share when they have achieved their goals.
Starting in 2010, I've worked with students with behavioral and developmental disabilities and I haven't enjoyed doing anything else since. Any student that needed help with any subject knows that I have the patience and will to help them complete their work to the best of their ability.
I enjoy 1 on 1 tutoring because it gives both myself and the student time to focus only on what they need, and allows me to directly assist them and develop anything that needs to be learned or polished for any student.
The children are our future, so I believe we have to take our time and help them develop into the future businessmen & businesswomen that will one day lead our country.
Working in the classroom on a daily basis gave me the opportunity to assist students grades K-8 in the English subject.
In the many different classroom settings I have worked in, spelling is a major part to any subject. I have delivered and proctored countless spelling tests after studying word for word with the students, so spelling is also something I have a passion to teach.
There's probably no greater love than the love I have for the sport of basketball. At the school I worked at for 5 years I was known as "The basketball trainer". I've played for my leisure and competitively for over 15 years, and I love teaching others the ins and outs of basketball en route to being a great fundamentally sound and smart player. I'd love to say I make learning basketball fun.
If you're looking for a tutor who'll assist you and not make it difficulty for you to learn at any pace you're comfortable with, I'm the person for you. I was once someone who at a young age found it hard to focus and pick up on things in school, but I learned ways to complete each grade on my own, and I would love to help anyone to achieve those same goals. I'm very easy to work with and if you allow me to, I'll help make learning fun and exciting. I'm usually available in the evenings for 1-2 hours at a time. Feel free to contact me! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I've played basketball leisurely and competitively for about 15 years. Being at the school that I worked at I was able to teach kids grades K-8 the game of basketball on a daily basis. I have experience teaching them how to be a smart player, how to think ahead, and of course the mechanics that come with playing basketball. I've also coached in basketball tournaments for student in elementary and middle school.
