Ball State University (Political Science)
I have been teaching social studies in public schools for thirty years. I am certified in AP U.S. History, and have also taught Government, Economics, World History, Sociology, and Psychology. I developed a course on the Holocaust and Genocide for my public school employer. The Genocide class became one of our most popular classes. In addition to my teaching duties, I have tutored individual students in Government, Economics, and U.S. History.
As an elementary student, I developed a love of reading and a fascination for history and historical figures. This interest has been a part of my life since then. I have an admiration for Abraham Lincoln, and one of my best memories was being able to visit his home and law office in Springfield, Illinois. As I said in my profile headline, History is a great story that deserves to be told and learned about.
How many history tutors can say that they watched President John Kennedy board a helicopter at the White House? These types of experiences give me a unique perspective on historical events, particularly the last 50 years. The Cold War, JFK's assassination, Vietnam, Watergate; I can not only offer expertise on these events, but also can give a student my own personal recollection.
