About Gordon

As an Economics Major and English Minor at Wake Forest University, I simultaneously developed my writing skills, my global perspective, and my ability to communicate. I have combined these skills with my knowledge of the Spanish language to be an effective and contributing member throughout a range of industries.

At Wake Forest University, I was a peer-tutor/editor in the Writing Center for three years, specializing in aiding foreign exchange students and students with learning disabilities.

Before and during college I worked in the Longwood Medical Child Care Center for nearly 5 years as a Teacher Assistant. Specifically, I helped children ages 2-5 learn to read, write, and communicate within a larger group; this allowed me to adapt and adjust my own methods of communication.

After college I worked for a year and a half at Red Ventures, near Charlotte, NC. Here, I excelled as a salesman in two languages. Upon promotion to the Spanish Queue, I averaged 45 Spanish sales and 140 English sales per month. Any Spanish sale required at least 20-45 minutes of an expert conversational level. After consistent success in my various roles throughout the company, I earned the title of Bilingual Master Sales Agent (MSA). As a co-worker, I was also tasked with helping new-hires streamline their sales processes and improve their techniques.

I am a published author for both creative writing and sports writing. Between August 2014 and January 2016, I wrote as a Weekly Columnist for a digital sports media website. I was responsible for in-depth analytical articles, MLB and NHL game recaps, and creating quiz questions for the SportsQuotient IQ test.

During the summer of 2012, I completed “Advanced Spanish Grammar & Conversation” at La Universidad VERITAS in San Jose, Costa Rica, expanding my perspectives and challenging any pre-determined outlooks.

Before being hired by Red Ventures, I travelled to Madrid, Spain to experience international finance firsthand. At ONEtoONE Corporate Finance, I worked as an Assistant/Intern to a Mergers & Acquisitions Analyst. This workplace allowed me to learn the various components for a successful business and the necessity for adapting within the market. ONEtoONE gave me the opportunity to improve my Spanish-language skills while also utilizing both my Economics and English backgrounds.

I also worked as a Sports Media Relations Assistant and Intern, specializing in organization of statistics as well as providing game recaps via social media. In addition, the Wake Forest University literary magazine selected several of my creative writing pieces for publication.

I would describe myself as personable and well-rounded. I believe that my background and experiences prepare me for a variety of situations, and I welcome any opportunity that will allow me to work hard and improve. I would be happy to provide my résumé on request; if you have any questions please contact me.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I was a starting pitcher at the top of the rotation all four years that I played for the Wake Forest University Club Team (National Club Baseball Association). I also played shortstop and second base during all four years, and as a junior and senior I was the starting shortstop. I am playing in my third season in the Boston Park League, the oldest amateur Men's League in the country, where I have played regularly as both a starting pitcher and a middle infielder. I received ISL All-League honors as a starting pitcher during my senior year at the Belmont Hill School in 2010.

I received a score of 720 on my SAT math section. I recently graduated with an Economics degree from Wake Forest University and this subject required active knowledge of theories ranging from PreAlgebra to Calculus 2.
