Prepare for the New SAT with a tutor who knows the test. I have taught ACT and SAT prep both independently and with a test prep agency and have helped students raise their scores by over 300 points. I have also studied the new tests extensively and can help students navigate recent changes in ways that other tutors cannot.
When I meet with your child, I assess and listen in order to tailor lessons to the most appropriate skill level. I use both school texts and my own supplementary coursework, and I do assign homework. Most importantly, I track student progress through careful record keeping. I target both weaknesses and strengths, and you will be able to see your child's progress through every exercise your child does with me. Prepare for the New SAT with a tutor who knows the test. Great tutor! Very thorough in his explanations. His test taking strategies are phenomenal. He is patient and easy to follow. Very punctual, organized. and always has materials and helpful resources to use. He gives practice problems to help reinforce the learning subjects, sample tests and goes over the answers to help give a better understanding of the material and subject.
Charles helped me pinpoint strengths and weaknesses in my writing. Looking forward to working with him again in the future.
My rising 6th grader is thoroughly enjoying his tutoring with Charles. He is in the accelerated maths groups and wants to keep his skills and mind fresh over the summer and grow so that he can really be on top of the curriculum once the new term starts. He finds him very helpful and didn't want the session to end today and can't wait for the next one! :)
Charles has been assisting my son with SAT prep, he is patient and knowledgeable. My son enjoys working with him and I appreciate his demeanor with children. We only have a short window and he knew exactly how to put together a plan of attack.
Charles is an excellent tutor. My daughter started going to him about 6 weeks prior to taking the SAT again and her reading score improved which we were absolutely thrilled about. It was because of Charles's lessons that resulted in the positive movement. My daughter is comfortable talking to him and enjoys her lessons. We highly recommend Charles for his structure, attention to detail, flexibility in adjusting plans to fit the student's need and professionalism.
Charles was very patient and knowledgeable while tutoring my daughter. However, he was not able to help my daughter reach her target score. We were hoping to improve her super score by 230 points ,but it only increased by 120 points. Her writing score improved 70 points, math improved 30 points, and reading improved 20 points. We had 17 lessons with Charles each lasting an hour and 30 minutes (for a grand total of 1,147.5 spent). We were hoping that with Charles's help she would be taking the SAT for the last time before she applies to college ,but we have to go through the SAT process once again. I am not at all happy with the improved score especially with the money that I spent.
Thank you for your feedback! I am sorry your daughter did not meet her target score on this particular testing session. I congratulate her success at the same time that I understand her disappointment.
My program is informed by the top authorities in the field and is individually designed to meet the needs of each student. This means that not only has your daughter worked on skills that she needed to master for the test, but she was also working almost exclusively at a level that would challenge her. The full value of this kind of rigorous approach to test preparation may not be fully realized in a single testing session, but rather will continue to benefit her throughout her entire academic career.
Again, thank you for taking the time to review my work. I am constantly looking for ways to improve my program and student feedback is the most important part of that process.
I have been very impressed w/ Charles' attention to detail when working with my son while helping him prepare for the writing and reading comprehension portion of his college placement exam. Charles has also included testing strategies that will be helpful when approaching the writing portion of the exam. My son has gone from dreading tutoring to looking forward to it. This is a HUGE accomplishment.
Charles is helping me out with my English SAT part of the test. He's pretty straight forward. If you don't understand something, his examples will be so helpful. He's by far the best tutor I found in Charlotte.
My son was only able to meet with Charles (thus far) two times yet has taken many positive and helpful tools from those meetings! I am very happy to have found Charles and will continue to use him! Thanks!
Charles tutored my children for Middle School testing. He was very professional and well prepared at each meeting. My children enjoyed having him as a tutor. They felt he challenged them and provided them with useful strategies for testing. My husband and I felt his weekly plans and assignments not only helped prepare them for state exams but also help with their everyday school work.
Charles has been a great tutor for my son. My son actually loves going to tutoring and has learned a lot. Charles always answers my emails or texts in a reasonable amount of time. We have great communication about my son's progress. I highly recommend him.
Yesterday my daughter took the SAT after being tutored by Charles. The first thing she talked about when she got in the car was how beneficial the tutoring was in preparing her for the test. Charles gave her test strategies, time management tips, and great feedback on practice tests. She went into the test feeling less anxious because she was prepared, thanks to Charles!
Thank you, Charles. My son felt very comfortable with you and feels that he will be able to learn a lot and be more comfortable when he approaches test day in October. Like the homework you gave him to do, this will help push him to learn those vocabulary words that he sometimes doesn't want to do. Thanks again and see you on the 15th.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I had the opportunity to take Honors Algebra and AP Calculus in high school. In addition to helping me succeed on the SAT, these classes also taught me skills that I would need in college classes like Microeconomics and Physics. When I teach Algebra, I teach concepts and skills and provide plenty of extra practice.
A graduate of a Christian School, I am familiar with the typical Bible Studies requirements at independent schools. I have studied The Book extensively, and am able to help students understand themes, context, and significance.
I taught sixth grade language arts in Winston Salem, and I can help students navigate the new Common Core objectives. As a current tutor at a local agency, I often help students prepare for their EOGs, raise their grades, and get two days ahead of their classmates.
After completing my student-teaching internship at North Mecklenburg high school, I spent three years teaching English at the middle and high school levels. I am familiar with the Common Core Objectives and the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, the EOG and EOC tests, and the senior exit project.
I scored a 169 on the verbal section of the GRE, and I have taught reading tests ever since I was an undergrad. The strategies I teach are reminiscent to those I use in the SAT. My students will master vocabulary, writing, and reading comprehension.
I have tutored students in the ISEE test at a local tutoring agency. My strategy involves reviewing test-taking strategies, practice from actual tests, and, of course, homework.
I was an honors math student in high school, and have since tutored students in PreAlgebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry, and SAT Math. I taught middle and high school for three years and am familiar with the Common Core standards to help students navigate them and get two days ahead of their classmates.
As a tutor at a local tutoring agency, I have often helped students understand the strategies necessary to excel on SAT Math section. I will help students identify the type of question, come up with a strategy, and see patterns in number sets. Most importantly, I provide real practice both in class and for homework that the student can use to master the test.
I tutor daily in SAT strategies and practice. I made an 800 on the reading section myself, and have helped students raise their reading scores by over 100 points. When I teach the SAT, You can expect to do a lot of practice both in class and for homework.
I have since helped many students prepare for both the ISEE and SSAT. When I work with students, I provide plenty of practice, review test-taking strategies, and I do assign homework, which typically consists of practice sections and vocabulary lists, both directly from the test.
