If you are looking for an experienced tutor, look no further! I am a certified elementary education teacher currently teaching in a third grade classroom. In addition to having eight years of teaching experience, I have three years of one-on-one tutoring experience as well. I have taught kindergarten, third, fourth and fifth grade and have tutored students from first to sixth grade.
Some of my tutoring experiences include: previewing math topics, math support, hands on science learning, reading comprehension, reading fluency tutoring and homework assistance. I am also Wilson level 1 certified, and have a great deal of experience implementing the Wilson program in both group and one-on-one setting.
During my first session with your son or daughter, I spend the session getting to know them on an individual basis and develop a learning plan that best suits your child's learning preferences. I am also willing to incorporate technology to help your child succeed. I also wish to get your input as a parent, so that tutoring can be an essential component to your child's learning career, rather than work isolated from the school setting.
I look forward to meeting both you and your child so that we can start them in a path to success! If you are looking for an experienced tutor, look no further! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently an elementary education teacher, with 8 years of teaching experience in this area. I have my undergraduate degree in elementary education and special education. Additionally, I am certified to teach elementary education in the following states: Pennsylvania, New Jersey and North Carolina.
I am level one certified in Wilson Language, which is a phonics based teaching program. I have also completed workshops for all levels of LETRS training, in which one specific module focuses directly on phonics instruction.
As a third grade teacher, I am the teacher that introduces many of these students to their first taste of standardized testing and I spend a great deal of time throughout the year preparing students for these assessments.
