Virginia Tech University (Biological Sciences)
Before applying to college, I scored in the 93% on the ACT among all high schoolers in the nation. I was successful as an undergraduate biology and Spanish double major at Virginia Tech University. During my years at college I worked as a substitute teacher in grades K-12 for three years. After working at a few local schools teaching students Spanish, biology, chemistry, computer science, math, and English, I was offered a full-time teaching position. At the time I had another job and was not able to commit to the position; however, I feel confident that I am capable of teaching a breadth of subjects and that my teaching experience will ensure that the subjects make sense to each student.
I am currently a fourth-year medical student with a relatively flexible schedule. I would love an opportunity to work with you, your child, or your friend in whichever subject requires the most attention.
All the best,

David is amazing! He has helped my son immensely in a very short period of time. My son was failing Spanish and math, and now has solid B's in both subjects, though he's continuing to improve with each lesson. David adapts on a weekly basis to whatever pressing needs my son is facing at the moment.
David is very smart, responsive, attentive, punctual, personable & friendly. My son feels like he has a true partner in his education. One who is young enough to be relative, but old enough to command the respect he deserves.
Sometimes our children can tune us out because they think we don't understand, so it's wonderful to have found someone who can get through to him in a current way that makes sense to my 12 year old.
I strongly recommend David, and am so thankful that we have him!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have always loved learning biology and understanding the reasons why nature behaves the way it does. I graduated from Virginia Tech University with a 3.7 in biology. Over the years, I developed some helpful mnemonics and fun ways to learn even the more complicated biology lessons. I have taught high school students in biology, human anatomy, general chemistry, and physics as a college student. I would love an opportunity to work with you, your family member or a friend.
I have enjoyed playing golf for my entire life (24 years). Last summer, I had a goal to break 80 and ended up shooting a 78. I consistently shoot in the low 80s and feel confident that I could improve the game of beginner golfers up to above-average golfers.
I have owned Macintosh/Apple products for the past decade, including: iPods, iPads, iPhones, Macbook Pros, and iMac desktops. I have the ability to navigate all applications and websites by using command functions on the keyboard without once touching the mouse pad on my macbook pro. I have become adept with many iPhone and iPad applications and am confident that I can help beginners learn to maximize their productivity and potential with Macintosh products. I also feel confident that I can help the average user learn how to allow Macintosh products help better organize their lives.
I have always enjoyed reading ever since I had a great reading teacher in Kindergarten. I also have proven success in the subject. On the ACT, I scored in the 93rd percentile largely due to my reading comprehension performance. More recently, on the reading comprehension section of the MCAT, I scored in the 87th percentile among all pre-medical students in the nation. My techniques are clear and effective, and I am confident that I would make an impact on your child.
I taught myself Spanish the summer after freshman year of college. I then tested into the most advanced Spanish class at Virginia Tech the fall of my sophomore year. After my sophomore year, I created an immersion program in Costa Rica and spent two months living with only Costa Ricans, learning the language and working in a hospital. After returning from Costa Rica, I tested out of all of the Spanish oral proficiency classes and was able to earn a minor in Spanish shortly thereafter. I love the language and still incorporate it into my job every day. I am comfortable with the difficult conjugations and more importantly, am comfortable teaching them. I would love an opportunity to work with you, your family or a friend to strengthen your/their language skills.
