East Carolina University BS Degree (Spanish)
East Carolina University (MEd)
Hello Second Language Student:
My name is Donald and I graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish. I returned to East Carolina University to earn a Master's in Adult Education and gained 18 graduate semester hours of Spanish credit while completing the program.
Experience teaching Spanish at the elementary, high school, and community college levels is complemented by trips abroad to Venezuela, Honduras, and Mexico. In Honduras and Mexico, I served as an interpreter for missions teams. Those experiences were culturally enriching and added excitement to knowing a second language in the real world.
Current experience includes working as a Spanish tutor since late 2006 and actively speaking with others who know Spanish as natives or are learning it as a second language. I prefer practical hands-on learning activities rather than rote textbook knowledge. The client's needs come first!
I look forward to hearing from you and improving your Spanish in a dynamic and active role.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
