(K-12) with over 10 years of experience in Teaching in Special Education, Human Services and Social Services, as well as diverse background in Case Management and dealing with at risk youth and families. Group rates are based on number of students and subject. If you do not cancel within 24 hours of your appointment you will be charged half of the fee.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have over 10+ years of experience working in the school system as a Special Education teacher and 10 years of experience working as a counselor/case manager working with ADD/ADHD children, individuals and their families. While working for the YMCA, the Havens, and the Housing Authority I created Successful Job Training Programs. Many of the clients that took the training were able to find and keep employment. I now do training and workshops for companies and groups on "How to Get and Keep a Job."
As a teacher of 12 years I am very familiar with Common Core Standards for each subject. I use Common Core to teach all classes. I have been to many Common Code training sessions. Common Code for now is the way of life in the classroom for all teachers.
I was a Home Education teacher for 2 years in the School System. For many years, I was a Case Manager that taught individual clients life skills to help them to be independent which included cooking, meal planning, and shopping skills.
Being Dyslexic just means that you see and you learning different. Dyslexia can affect people differently but with the right help a child/adult can overcome it. As a Special Ed Teacher I had many years of training on how to help children/adults that are Dyslexic. I know from experience using alternate learning methods, children/adults with Dyslexia can achieve success.
