University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) (Master's)
I have been a very results oriented and successful tutor in Physics and Mathematics for a very long time starting at the University of Minnesota. I have saved many students career by getting them to even B and A grades in Calculs and University Physics from previously failing grades. My lessons and work problems are very easy to understand for even the most elementary students of Math and Physics.

Very well planned on both topic and materials! Mr. C always finds ways to explain the material and recommend resources that are very helpful.
Mr. Chan did a great job explaining some fundamental concepts in preparation for my physics 1 final exam. He has a very strong grasp of the material I needed help with and I look forward to our next study session.
Always a great help to Aidan! He has been struggling with Probabilities. May need one more to get him right for Finals.
He was able to help me with all aspects of Precalculus - knew everything right off the top of his head. He was able to explain things very clearly so I really understood the concepts.
Wai tutored Senior IB Mathematics and was able to accomplish a great deal in just 1 hour. Feeling much more confident about upcoming final exams. I would highly recommend Wai for any math or physics tutoring.
Wai helped me comprehend and go over my physics homework with me. He has helped me a lot with being able to grasp a better understanding of what I am learning right now.
Wai C. was prompt and maximized the time. My son really appreciated Michael's clear instructions and enthusiasm for the subject. Both my son and I were very pleased and look forward to working with him more this coming year. So thankful!
The first session went very good! Michael is very knowledgeable and explained things in an easy to understand manner. He goes a bit fast at times, but when asked explained again. Next session is already booked!
With Mr C's help my tests scores have risen from a 9% to a 77% to an 88% in Pre calculus all in 6 weeks.
Had my first lesson with Wai today to help me prepare for the SAT. So far so good. Looking forward to our next sessions and doing well on the test, thanks to Wai.
Wai has helped my son immensely in his honors Pre-Calculus class. After only 2 sessions, my son's test grade improved 2 letter grades! My son really appreciates how he explains the material differently than his teacher at school. In addition, Wai offers practice problems to help my son master his understanding of difficult concepts in Pre-Cal. Wai always responds quickly to my email questions and concerns. My son is extremely fortunate to have found such an amazing tutor.
He was able to help my son understand the material quickly, and provided alternative techniques which were very helpful in checking his work and coming to understand how answers were derived. Great communication, building a good rapport with the student ... overall very pleased.
Thorough and easy to understand help. Can already tell that his help will make a huge difference in my grade.
I think he is very knowledgeable, and I am feeling more positive about Physics. Looking forward to our next tutoring session!
Exactly like his Tutoring Profile says, he took me from being ready to drop the course to being completely confident in the subject in just 2 lessons. He is amazing. Anyone who either/or both has a hard time understanding the connection between the variables and formulas in physics, and its been awhile since you took the required math, this is the tutor for you. In the first lesson alone at least 5 or 6 light bulbs went off in my brain. I highly recommend him.
Update: Before I got him as a tutor my first test grade was a 40%. After having him as a tutor, my second test grade was a 82%.
He is a great tutor and extremely good at conveying the information to the student. I have learned more from him in one two hour session than I have learned from my teacher in two months of AP Physics. I highly recommend using him for Physics tutoring.
He is on time and available. Our son improved and scored A's on tests after the sessions. We were pleased with Wai.
My daughter was very pleased with the first tutoring session. Wai was on time and well prepared to review.
This tutor was AMAZING! He was able to give me the understanding and confidence I needed to conquer Calculus! He prepared detailed lesson plans with example problems and answer keys. His explanation was very clear and he had great patience. Thank you so much for sending him my way!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken and passed several intermediate and advanced courses in Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations from the University of Minnesota under some of the world renowned mathematicians. I have also provided tutoring services to many students in the past, in Differential Equations over the last 30 years. Currently, I use differential equations to perform my daily work in scientific and engineering professions.I know how to apply differential equations to daily and societal applications.
I am highly trained and competent in teaching Physics at both the high school and college level. One of my greatest honors is that a former student of mine where I was the undergraduate teaching assistant in Physics in 1975 at the University of Minnesota just won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for 2012. I was Brian K's Physics teaching assistant in Physics for Electricity and Magnetism for that course in 1975.
