I taught regularly in the classroom for eleven years; my favorite part of teaching jobs has been tutoring people one on one in office hours, where progress towards learning is much easier to see.

As a graduate student, I taught logic courses, mathematics courses, and a few cross-disciplinary courses within the social sciences. I continued to teach mathematics full-time at both the university and high school level for several years afterwards. I have a particular depth of experience in teaching logic, discrete mathematics, calculus, and cross-disciplinary courses.

In addition to my expertise in mathematics, I have degrees in physics, philosophy, and social science, and professional experience with software, which allows me to contextualize a lot of the utility of mathematics in different fields as well as tutor in the more mathematical areas of those other fields.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I taught high school students basic algebra for a year at a school in Ohio.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I have a doctorate in mathematics, taught college algebra to college students, and taught algebra classes to high school students.
Calculus,

Calculus

Taught calculus for three semesters at Virginia Tech as a line instructor. Previously had been a graduate teaching assistant for some calculus classes at Appalachian State University as a master's student.
Geometry,

Geometry

I taught geometry to high school freshman at a school in Ohio.
Physics,

Physics

I completed a bachelor's degree in physics and was offered admission to physics doctoral programs before deciding to pivot to mathematics. I have continued to teach subjects (calculus, diff eq, etc) where physics is the principal example and continue to work with people in physics.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Have taught mathematics at both high school and university levels, from geometry to discrete mathematics, differential equations, and multivariate calculus.

Good at simplifying everything

Tom was very good at making everything make sense in layman’s terms. Thoroughly knew everything and was able to translate in a way that made perfect sense.

Very knowledgable about discrete math

He helped me go through all of my answers and workings on past assignments and homework. He is able to work efficiently and quickly, while also explaining at a good pace, which is what I needed. He was knowledgable about all topics and the difficult questions I had. Would definitely take a class again.
