Carnegie Mellon University (Writing, Linguistics)
I have experience and a passion for education. Specifically, I have formal experience teaching Creative Writing as well as English and English Literature. I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University last spring where I studied English, Creative Writing, Linguistics, and Philosophy.
I have found that I have a passion for teaching. I honestly believe that education is one of the most important things to focus on in one's life and is therefore one of the most important things you can give someone else. I believe that education is something that needs to be attainable and able to be easily transmitted. We often run into the problem of engaging students, especially those who struggle with the curriculum, and as a result, quality education becomes reserved for those students who posses advantages of one kind or another. I truly believe that there are ways for any student to engage in learning so long as the right kind of attention is payed to them. That attention, more than anything else, is what I want to offer.
I have extensive training and personal interest in reading, writing, editing, revising, and the overall working of language on the textual and rhetorical level. I can answer any questions you might have about any aspect of reading and writing and, most importantly, how to improve those skills.
I encourage you to contact me if, more than (and in addition to) completing your lessons, you want to learn. I have experience and a passion for education. Specifically, I have formal experience teaching Creative Writing as well as English and English Literature. I graduated
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
