My Master's degree is in International Relations. This degree is an interdisciplinary one. I studied in depth in the fields of Political Science, Communications, Geography, Human Resources and History.
I have spent the past four years working as a learning assistant, tutor and supplemental instructor at a local university. I have taken courses in and held review sessions for a variety of courses including those in Anthropology, Communications, Geology, Exercise and Sport Science, Geography and African Studies. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I spent three years working as a learning assistant for student athletes at the college level. I helped them get organized and figure out how to manage and prioritize their assignments and exams. I often went over their syllabi with them and then developed a schedule for their readings so they would feel prepared for exams and papers.
