More and more these days, life is about presentation. I can help you strategize your professional goals by defining what you bring to the table that is valuable and viable in today's marketplace. Discovering options that you've not yet considered along with ruling out some that you have, empowers you to be selective.
I run a cool, light filled studio perfect for tutoring classes. Currently we are working SAT "Cram Jams" to get in shape for just in time for the tests. My partner, Bill runs Maximum Test Prep, offering SAT/ACT and GRE prep and is a top scorer himself. He was trained by the Princeton Review and taught there for eight years.
About me: For the past 20 plus years I've run my own global human resources consulting practice and have broad-based experience in executive search and recruitment, research, organizational development, business strategy, business development, public relations, marketing and promotions. I've built out senior management teams for notable companies such as Martha Stewart as well as managed NYC theater shows at Lincoln Center. Additionally, I have coached and counseled litigious parents on child custody and visitation issues.
I'm also a professionally trained and credited actress, writer, producer and produced playwright. I've worked in the entertainment business since childhood and have acted, sung, improvised, directed, produced and even did stand-up in the NYC comedy circuit. I attended NYU school of the Arts and hold a Bachelor of professional services (BPS) from SUNY, ESC. An MFA in creative writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts is in the works. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a retainer based executive search consultant I coached senior-level executives in realistic career advancement and personal presentation. I formed a separate practice called, “Guerrilla Job Search,” a no-nonsense practicum of strategizing a job search using the techniques that top search firms use to find candidates. I show people how to be one's own headhunter by identifying viable organizations and titles, networking strategically and possibly creating and utilizing distinct resumes for different opportunities and potential paths. Trained in psychology (including family systems), counseling and family law in New York, I've worked with couples in custody and visitation battles within and outside of the court systems.
I've also held group workshops for those in transition, using improvisational theater games and techniques to mobilize people thinking on their feet, be flexible in times of uncertainty and hone presentation skills they didn't know they had.
I was a professional actress (member of AEA, SAG, AFTRA), singer and writer in New York City for many years, appearing in films, television and in off-Broadway and Regional Theaters I trained at Point Park College at the Pittsburgh Playhouse, the New York University School of Drama and Lee Strasberg Institute along with private teachers at Ensemble Studio Theater and Actors Theater (to name a few). I was a member of some notable theater companies and improvisational groups. I coached actors for auditions and scene work. I also was a stand-up comic and appeared at the major NYC comedy clubs. I've directed and produced shows and taught both acting privately, and through schools, camps and the YMCA. I also used acting techniques and improvisation games to work with executives in transition.
