I became interested in teaching while I was in high school. As a student, I enjoyed delving deeply into my courses of study and then explaining difficult concepts to my classmates, especially those struggling to comprehend them. At the end of my high school, I took a gap and volunteered to teach English at Lakeside Community School, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. As an English teacher, I taught English to a groups of 50 students ages 4- 35. I planned and implemented teaching courses as well as monitoring the progress of my students.

As an undergraduate Chemistry Major in Methodist University, I began tutoring Chemistry from sophomore year until end of my senior year in Methodist University (2012-2015). I tutored all levels of Undergraduate Chemistry courses to Freshmen and Upper Classmen. As chemistry tutor, I assessed students and determined best study strategies. I assisted with assignments, explanation and enforcement of concepts taught in courses. I mentored students who were struggling academically. I monitored their progress and suggested alternative learning methods. Though not necessarily assigned to tutor Math and Biology, I also assisted students who came for tutoring in those subjects, especially when the assigned tutor was not available.

Tutoring enabled me to foster the culture of learning as I became eager to learn more in depth about chemistry so that I am more equipped to deliver the material and help my tutees understand complex materials in a more creative way. Through this experience, I learned to be an active listener. I listen carefully to the needs or concern of each tutee and from that I work with them on areas they need improvement or understanding on. When my tutees come back to me at tutoring center or even meet around campus with excitement about getting a better grade in chemistry and thanking me for helping them understand a concept that believe made them improve their score made me very happy. I became more motivated to be better tutor. I met and interacted with diverse groups of students
