About Rob

I am an experienced and North Carolina certified teacher and have taught both Middle School and High School Mathematics. I also have been a Substitute teacher for more than 6 years and have in that role taught all subjects in all grades from Kindergarten to High School. While updating my education to become a certified teacher I was a straight A student full time while also tutoring in the Math Resource Center of Johnson County Community College in Kansas. My first semester in college I took College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus I and received an A in all three classes. This led me to work in the above mentioned Math Resource Center for 5 semesters where I helped all students in their understanding of College Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Statistics, Calculus Based Statistics, Calculus I, II, and III, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations.

I have always found ultimate satisfaction when my students understand concepts that I teach them. When I see that "light bulb" moment and I can tell that they understand what I have been teaching them. It has been a great experience to see how different students had their own ways of learning and to adapt my teaching according to the students' requirements. I like private tutoring because I can give all my time and focus on the one student. I do not want to boast but it gives me immense pleasure to say that all my students have told me that I should take teaching career.

Beyond being an NC Certified Teacher (being a 4.0 Honors Society student at NC State University), I also have a BS degree in Computer Science. What this has taught me is how to think outside of the box in solving problems and creating solutions. Both Math and Computer Programming can be broken down into puzzles that need to be solved. I actually find that these puzzles are fun to solve and try to get my students to think of homework as not a bunch of problems that need to be solved but instead an opportunity to put together all of the mathematical pieces of the puzzle to come up with the big picture (solution).

I am very confident about my teaching because I adapt to student requirements. I easily get to know if students have understood or not through their facial expressions and also by asking quick questions back to them. I am good at setting questions which test if the student has understood the concepts, If my students can answer those, they can mostly answer any other question in those topics.

Please use this opportunity of learning from someone who loves to teach and I am very happy to help you succeed in achieving whatever goals you set for yourself.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
