University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Clinical Lab Science)
I graduated from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science. I was president of two student organizations at UNC-CH: one of them is devoted to spreading general health knowledge on campus and to promote first aid education. The other student organization is Shotokan Karate in which we practice traditional Japanese karate at school. I am fluent in both English and Mandarin. I was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society in 2014.
I have had experience with tutoring both in high school and in college; most of my tutor experience were to tutor my classmates, friends, or students seeking help in the after class tutoring program. I have always enjoyed tutoring others while at school and have patience in explaining concepts in different ways until my students understand them. I like to think of interesting ways to explain science concepts to my students for easy remembering and easy understanding. Teaching also helped me learn a lot of different things, such as helping me understand the topic much better than I used to during the process of explaining, as well as developing and improving my teaching techniques while teaching different students.
With my major I have studied biology throughout my entire college time and I have also excelled in the chemistry courses and physics courses I've taken in college (mostly A’s, A-’s, or B+’s). Because I am a pre-med student, I have also been constantly reviewing my knowledge in biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, psychology, and sociology.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you succeed in your studies! Thank you! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
