The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Philosophy)
I recently graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Philosophy and a double minor is social and economic justice and chemistry. The diverse scope of my undergraduate study has given me familiarity and expertise in numerous subject areas. My Philosophical and Chemical background have cultivated in my excellent analytical skills. I also have extensive humanities background in social and economic justice related topics as well as foreign language skills in Igbo and Spanish. I have excellent written and communication skills.
I believe that learning is an important aspect of life. Each new day we have a chance to soak up as much knowledge as we can; whether it is from books, classes, nature or just plain human interaction. This belief is what drives me to teach. I enjoy helping students leap through learning hurdles and challenges so that they may, like me, experience the joy that exists in learning. I am available to tutor in a variety of subjects including math, English (reading and writing), science, Spanish and standardized test prep. I believe that I have the skills to be a good, effective tutor not just because of my past successes but because I use an individual approach when tutoring. I believe every person absorbs information differently. I work diligently to figure out how each student best learns and then proceed by tailoring their lessons to that mode. In addition to this technique the subjects that I tutor are those with which I am very familiar. There is nothing worse than having a teacher who doesn't have command of the skill they are trying to relay. That is why I only advertise for subjects that I feel extremely comfortable instructing. I truly understand the requirements of effective teaching and learning and that is why I will cater my teaching methods accordingly so each of my students is able to succeed whether it is in math, science, English or standardized test.
