About Regina

I have been an educator and/or trainer for 20 years and I love teaching! I love teaching or tutoring online and in person individually or in a group. WyzAnt has some phenomenal tools for online teaching if we do not live close to one another.

Let's talk about my experience first:
Since my husband's job moved us to North Carolina in April 2013 I have enjoyed serving as an ESOL, Computer, grades K-6, GED and Workforce Readiness tutor. For four years I proudly served as the Assistant Principal at a charter high school helping students ages 16-22 to earn a high school diploma, earn a GED, pass the College Placement and ACT exams, gain employment and/or get accepted into college or trade school.

One of my favorite jobs was teaching Spanish to grades K-8 for three years at charter schools in Michigan. Call me if you need help with your Spanish homework, class or exam!!!! I love computers and reading and delighted to serve as the Director of Family Literacy and Computer Technology for 2 years for Workforce Plus - my students ranged in age from 3 years old to 90. I taught Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher; Outlook, Internet, and computer basics and I taught Family Literacy courses to help parents teach preschoolers to third graders early reading skills.

I was an Economics and Business Administration major at Florida A&M University and a graduate student in Human Resource Management at Florida State University. I worked for 10 years as a Human Resource Administrator and Trainer for 4 major Fortune 500 companies so I can help students grades 6 to college with business courses and/or Human Resource or Labor Relations projects.

Personal Side of Mrs. J.
On the personal side I am also the mother of four dynamic sons and "Nana" to an four wonderful grandchildren. All four sons have graduated from or attended college. I have always been active at my children's schools and our home is always the official hang out spot for my sons and their friends. For fun I love reading, hiking, cooking, event planning and going to plays and movies. My husband and I are about to celebrate 25 years of marriage! We both love conducting free bible studies so if you have a religion class or just want to learn more about the bible I am the person you want to contact!!!!!!

Overall:
I am very patient but I expect greatness from all of my students because greatness is in all of you I just help you bring it out! You will work hard if I am your tutor and you will learn if you listen and apply what I teach you. I am also a great listener and will try hard to understand why you are having troubles with your academic studies. I have my students do hands on activities so I know you can do the assignments before we end your lesson whether online or in person.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

A natural teacher. — After having my first lesson on computer skills with Regina, I felt that I had made the right decision in choosing her as my tutor. I found her to be patient, competent and very professional, but still friendly. She arrived well prepared for our lesson and I felt we accomplished quite a bit that first morning. She communicated very well and made learning a new skill seem effortless. I think sh ...
